But what I don't understand is why some of you have problems with anon_c's activator!? It's just a modified ChessBaseAdminTool and (although he hasn't sent me yet the unpacked originals) I don't think that he changed it so much that it would need any additional (or different) system DLL. So if the original AdminTool is working, his activator should be working too (unless his packing method makes problems on some machines?).

totoymola: I'm sure the the CB-patch 3.2 works for this, but for educational purposes, I tested another approach to activate the engine and GUI. This is what I did: Instructions: 1) Install Deep Fritz 12 DL, run it to get to the green Fritz 12 launcher, and then exit (dont play yet!). 2) Copy the three files inside the "Activator" folder (1-Engine.exe, 2-Keygen.exe, 3-GUI.exe) to your Deep Fritz 12 installation directory. 3) Run 1-Engine.exe. It will activate the engine, and then terminates by itself. 4) Run 2-Keygen.exe. Click the "Serial" button to generate a serial number, and copy it. Do not close the keygen yet! 5) Run the original ChessBaseAdminTool.exe, and click the "Activate offline" button. 6) Paste the serial number in the "Activation Key" boxes. It should be copied automatically when you click the first box because you already have the serial number in your clipboard. 7) Copy the "Hardware ID" and type it manually in the keygen (including the dashes). If you are lazy like me, try the included WinSpy program so you can copy the Hardware ID and paste it on the keygen. 8) Click the "Activation" button on the keygen, copy the generated Activation Key, and paste it on the "Activation Key" box. 9) Manually type the 4-character code from the image, and click "OK" 10) Run 3-GUI.exe, click the "Activate offline" button, then repeat steps 6 to 9. 11) Close everything, and start playing! Notes: The file 1-Engine.exe is the activator uploaded by AC, and the files 2-keygen.exe and 3-GUI.exe are from Deep.Shredder.12-RELOADED. [hideguest]http://www.mediafire.com/?ytzfzzhyoni[/hideguest]

What did I do wrong?

Do note that DF12 Light GUI only work with those engines that doesn't do dvd checks (s12/ds12 and the df12 that came with df12light download). Unless those cbf patches works with DF12Light, you won't be able to use those Fritz engines that requires dvd checks. UCI engines are not affected.

DF12 engine works fine in my DF11 GUI (except for the MPV thing of course). I'll try and see if there are any engine with problems in DF12 light GUI.

high.hopes: bulldozer I followed the steps you gave above and everything works perfectly for me. Both the engine and the gui were activated. I am running Vista.
