sparky: Hi I'm not a Petroff player for either side. But for books and videos pls try out the seeker's library [hideguest]http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=7fef3909b0a76f8495af63b7d44918aa4ed989073b9d5fd1[/hideguest] just do a petroff search

carlospesce: Thanks! I did this search, here, in Demonoid, etc. I dont want videos like Shirov´s "My best games in the Petroff Seems incredible that this defence so known, there arent a monography like The ABC..or How to play..or The Complete.. Thanks in advance

Kir: Well, there are openings and openings. For whatever reason some are covered rather moderately. These include the Petrov, QID, Queen's Gambit Declined (except The Exchange Variation, quite popular among chess authors) and so on. Still there are possibilities. I would consider the following: 1) Take a base of commented games (for instance, by Chess Informant), build a tree and go through it. 2) Understand your points of interest and search for them in these Shirov and Kasym Fritz trainers by Chessbase. 3) If still missing, study the CBM Opening Surveys (there is a list at http://www.chessbase.com/products/cbm/indexcbm.asp , some of the Petrovs over there, all CBMs freely available here). 4) If missing yet, try the old "printed book" style. There are monographs by Jussupow and Karpov, among others. 5) At a more advanced level, you may opt for NIC surveys (we have them here, 6 of them contain certain theoretical material on the Petrov). 6) Finally, give Google or such a try, and you'll be brought somewhere to http://jeanpaul.garnier.free.fr/indexen.htm, which will not contribute greatly to your up-to-date knowledge of this opening, but make you feel it a bit better.

carlospesce: Thanks guys! If in the near future theres something about PD, send me a mess Cheers Carlos

the_seeker: Forintos, Gyozo & Haag, Ervin - Petroff's Defence Jusupov, Artur - C42 Petroff's Defence http://www.mediafire.com/?4nlyqomxmin p.s. Shirov's DVDs are really good. He explains ideas pretty well.
