bankuss: The Scandinavian by John Emms pdf (March 28, 1997) Product Description In recent years, the Scandinavian Defense (1 c4 d5) has become increasingly popular both at club and grandmaster level. Indeed, it was even used by Viswanathan Anand in his World Championship match against Garry Kasparov! In this book for club and tournament players, Grandmaster John Emms explains the strategy and tactics of this dynamic and fashionable opening. Through the use of model games for both sides, the author provides a thorough grounding in the key ideas so players can quickly and confidently start to use the Scandinavian in their own games. http://rapidshare.com/files/29344159/John_Emms_-_The_Scandinavian.zip Das Schachspiel und seine historische Entwicklung by Ludwig Bachmann 179 pages, German language, DJVU, 21.2 MB http://rapidshare.com/files/36496749/bachmann.djvu Ajedrez Maestro Contra Amateur/ Chess Master Vs Chess Amateur (Spanish Edition) by Max Euwe and Walter Meiden (Jun 30, 1999) Spanish language PDF, 1.9 MB http://rapidshare.com/files/43137911/Max_Euwe___Walter_Meiden_-_Maestro_contra_Amateur__Spanish_.pdf.html Bueno, yo lei este libro, para un jugador de ajedrez que viene empezando, este es el tipo de libro que le ayudará a mejorar, hace diferentes tratados: -Principio de desarrollo de piezas -Como evitar caer en una minuatura, o como elaborar una miniatura( partidas desicivas en 20 movimientos) -Celadas de apertura No me inmagino un jugador que empiece sin este libro, yo tengo un ELO mas de 2000, y aun veo las paritdas de vez en cuando, aunque no me sirven, es un libro que abona cuando imparta clases. Igor Stohl has selected 62 outstanding games from recent years and analysed them in painstaking depth. Here he presents his findings to chess enthusiasts, who will find the games entertaining and the annotations both instructive and illuminating. Stohl is an outstanding theoretical expert, so the opening phase of each game reads like a lesson in the key strategic aspects of the opening chosen, with a critical survey of modern trends. The middlegame is dissected and the critical decisions subjected to keen scrutiny - we are invited inside Stohl's laboratory to join him in the quest for the truth. The endgame phase, if reached, is handled with similar erudition, with insights into the grandmaster's approach to questions of technique. Following each game there is a discussion of the most important lessons to be learned. The expanded and revised new edition of this award-winning work features 12 new top-level games from the period 2000-2007 annotated in great depth - about 15% new material. There are also corrections to the existing notes and a revised Introduction. The Najdorf is one of the most sharp, dynamic, and popular openings that Black can play and is a firm favorite amongst the world's elite players, including world number one Garry Kasparov. From the Back Cover The Najdorf Sicilian is one of the most sharp, dynamic and popular openings that Black can play and is a firm favorite amongst the world’s elite players, including world number one Garry Kasparov. From very early on, Black unbalances the game to a reach a position in which one can play for the win without exceptional risk. The soundness of the Najdorf has never been seriously doubted, but some players can be put off by the ever-spiraling amount of theory amassed on this great opening. In Play the Najdorf: Scheveningen Style, however, Grandmaster and openings expert John Emms condenses this mountain to produce a workable black repertoire against all of White’s possible options. Emms concentrates on lines where Black adopts a very early ..e7-e6, thus establishing the well-known Scheveningen pawn structure. Play the Najdorf explains an opening championed by Garry Kasparov; is written by a renowned openings theoretician; covers all of White’s main replies. So there's definitely a niche for a book on the subject. The book under review is a godsend for a 1.d4 player like myself who wants a clear explanation of ideas. For instance, in the classical set-up (...c6, ...Nbd7, ...Be7), what does one aim for in the tabiya position that arises after 12....e5? The book, as the author makes clear, doesn't cover every main line: it restricts itself to the Tartakower, the Lasker, the Exchange, the Classical, the Cambridge Springs, and the Bf4 lines. The author explains the ideas in each of these lines using games from both past and present. Every class player who plays or encounters the QGD will benefit from this, and even experts may pick up a few things. In my humble opinion, mastery of QGD and QGA postions is essential for every chessplayer, regardless of whether he plays them or not.To this extent, the book belongs on every player's shelf.

One of the most straight-forward replies is the Rubenstein Variation (4 e3), in which White ignores Black’s ‘threats’ and instead simply gets on with the process of developing his remaining pieces. This plan has found favor with many top players; indeed, Brain Games World Champion Vladimir Kramnik used it to defeat Garry Kasparov in just 25 moves in their 2000 match in London. Jamolek1: Modern King's Indian Attack by John Hall (Nov 1996) http://rapidshare.com/files/107187881/Cartier_R___Hall_S_-_Modern_King_s_Indian_Attack__1996_.pdf / 6647kb Review This book is excellent for Club Players with a rating below 2200. The strength of the book is its combinative mixture of grand master games along with high level club matches by the authors. The inclusion of many of the authors games allow for a step by step in depth understanding of certain variations. In addition it is especially useful for those club players who tend to favour attacking through h4 on their ninth or tenth moves. The reason for not giving a five star rating is due to a lack of examples where the attack is conducted through f4 rather than h4. Playing 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 your opponent is probably expecting 3.Bb5 or 3.Bc4 but why not try 3.d4 which would seem to be a delayed Centre Game. Garry Kasparov has added a lot new tactical ideas which author Gary Lane points out. There are 4 main systems covered in 15 chapters. The only thing missing is The Goring Gambit. Also a good way to prepare for the lines as Black in case your opponent tries to sneak this one in on you. Fritzlover: Еще две, которых вроде-бы не было: Secrets of Chess Intuition by Alexander Beliavsky, Adrian Mikhalchishin (May 2002) hxxp://rapidshare.com/files/155639928/Alexander_Beliavsky___Adrian_Mikhalchishin_-_Secrets_of_Chess_Intuition.djvu (8 mb) Product Description Intuition is central to all chess decision-making, and an understanding of its role is vital in improving one's game. Players who try to calculate everything to a finish are doomed to lose out to those who use their logical and intuitive abilities in harmony with one another. This book, the first devoted to the role of intuition in chess, explains how to allow your intuition to reach its full potential and provides guidance on the types of positions in which one should rely heavily on intuition, and on those where one ought to be more analytical. The two authors, both top-level authors and players, have drawn examples from modern practice and from the classics, with special emphasis on players whose intuition has been legendary, such as Mikhail Tal. The authors devote particular attention to the role of intuition in sacrifices, whether for attacking, defensive or positional purposes. They are not theoretical works in the traditional sense, but more a series of lessons from a chess expert with extensive over-the-board experience with an opening. You will gain an understanding of the opening and the middlegames to which it leads, enabling you to find the right moves and plans in your own games. It is as if you were sitting at the board with a chess coach answering your questions about the plans for both sides, the ideas behind particular moves, and what specific knowledge you need to have. The Caro-Kann is one of the most popular responses to 1 e4. Black stakes a claim to the central squares and seeks free development for all his pieces. While solid, it is by no means a drawing weapon – the resulting positions generally contain at least a degree of imbalance and the critical lines lead to sharp positions with chances for both sides. Many new approaches for both sides have been developed in recent years, and a good understanding of these ideas is vital for anyone looking to handle either side of the Caro with success. 14 Mb

These occur surprisingly often in practice and are extremely tactical in nature. This book unites man and machine in the searh for ultimate answers. The computer databases created by Ken Thompson, formerly of Bell Laboratories, can state with certainty the correct result of any position with five pieces or fewer. John Nunn has extracted the most important information from these databases and presented it in the form of guidelines and specific key positions, which can be more readily digested by the human mind. With most competitive games nowadays being played to a finish in a single session, this knowledge may prove invaluable over the board. Since the first edition of this book was published, the databases for many six-man endings have been created, resulting in some surprising and paradoxical discoveries. The coverage has therefore been expanded to include the most interesting features of these endings. 6.7 mb

Fritzlover: Chess Explained: The c3 Sicilian by Sam Collins http://rapidshare.com/files/155972679/Sam_Collins_-_Chess_Explained_The_c3_Sicilian__2007_.pdf Product Description Chess Explained is a new series of books about chess openings. The c3 Sicilian is one of White's most popular and poisonous ways to avoid the main lines of the Sicilian. With the forcing line 1 e4 c5 2 c3, White denies his opponent the chance to demonstrate his preparation in some chaotic system; instead Black will have to fight carefully for equality in a more rational position of White's choosing. There are plenty of tricks and traps in the c3 Sicilian, and the open piece-play that often results can lead to quick attacks and means that careless play will rarely go unpunished. 8 mb

Remarkably, it is once more the focus of top grandmaster attention, for example Nigel Short played it three times in a row against the world's best at the Madrid 1997 tournament. The Najdorf's fundamental soundness has been confirmed in countless top-level games, and in particular by Garry Kasparov's successful use of it throughout his career. White has tried a wide variety of approaches against the Najdorf, including quiet positional lines and the traditional main line with 6 Bg5. Recently the idea of a rapid kingside pawn advance has found favour. The Najdorf's landscape changes rapidly, and this presents its devotees with a complex task: they must not only keep up-to-date with sharp theoretical lines, but must also have a firm grasp of the strategies that underpin the main systems, both old and new. This book lends a helping hand to those who play the Najdorf or wish to take up this complex opening. Two Najdorf experts from Spain present a flexible repertoire for Black, including a wealth of original analysis of the critical variations. They also explain the key ideas behind the Najdorf, focusing on those plans that are most relevant to modern practice. The Marshall Attack: Incorporating the Anti-Marshall Lines by Bogdan Lalic (Oct 1, 2003) http://rapidshare.com/files/122550104/Bogdan_Lalic-The_marshall_attack.pdf Product Description The Marshall Attack is one of the oldest and most important openings in the history of chess. Black sacrifices a pawn against the Ruy Lopez in exchange for a long-lasting attack. Generations of the world's top players have fought on the Marshall battleground, but the final verdict on its soundness has not yet been reached. However, of one thing you can be sure: Black certainly has a lot of fun in trying to checkmate the white king! It is perhaps because of this reason that as White, many Grandmasters, including the world number one Gary Kasparov, have decided to avoid the issue altogether, preferring the more tranquil waters of Anti-Marshall systems. A renowned openings theoretician studies the ideas and strategies of both approaches in depth here. *An ideal weapon at all levels *Written by a leading openings expert *Full and up-to-date coverage of all the fashionable lines From the Back Cover The Marshall Attack is one of the oldest and most important openings in the history of chess. Caro-Kann: Smyslov System 4...Nd7 by Oleg Stetsko and Eduard Gufeld (April 1, 1998) http://rapidshare.com/files/123106496/Gufeld___Stetsko-Caro_Kann_Smyslov_system_4...Nd7.pdf.html Product Description An objective, detailed coverage of all of the lines of the Smyslov system, with special attention devoted to the most dangerous attacking systems available to White - such as that used in Deep Blue's sensational match-clinching victory over Garry Kasparov. From the Back Cover The Smyslov Variation of the Caro-Kann is one of the most solid and dependable openings for Black. It is a favourite of many top players, including FIDE World Champion Anatoly Karpov and the British No. 1, Michael Adams, both of whom have used the system to defeat many top-class opponents. This book presents an objective, detailed coverage of all the lines of the Smyslov System, with special attention devoted to the most dangerous attacking systems available to White - such as that used in Deep Blue's sensational match-clinching victory over Garry Kasparov. Grandmaster Eduard Gufeld is one of the most colourful characters in international chess. His entertaining style of play and lively annotations have gained him many fans around the world. His previous books for Cadogan include 'The Modern French Tarrasch' and 'An Opening Repertoire for the Attacking Player.' Oleg Stesko has earned a reputation as a researcher and theoretician of the highest order. Actually, I have used it to play from either white or black's side, and this is the book from which I learned to play the French seriously. A few omissions (like nothing on the obscure Alapin Variation) can be forgiven, in light of the numerous suggestions for beyond-the-book-move play. If you only had one book on the French and this were it, you would be pretty tough to take down.

They were very interesting and gave good instruction for the strategies. A very strong tournament with great players!! I would have given it 5 stars instead of four if the analysis of the games was written so a lower rated player could benefit. I am somewhat higher rated, and still had a few difficulties. But this book belongs in most libraries. I got Unbeatable Chess Lessons for Juniors which was written more for my level and very good. I also liked Logical Chess Move by Move. 15 mb

White puts his bishop on c4, and often follows up with direct play against the black king. Unless Black defends with the utmost precision, the bishops' influence often fuels a deadly attack leading to a cascade of sacrifices and a brutal king hunt. This book presents in detail the theory of the Sozin in all its forms, including the razor-sharp Velimirovic Attack.

Black accepts an apparently loose pawn-structure in return for a great deal of piece activity. Decades of experience have shown that it is far from easy for White to neutralize Black's active play, and the Sveshnikov is now firmly established as a favourite weapon for players who wish to win games as Black. Leading grandmasters who have relied on the Sveshnikov include John Nunn, Michal Krasenkow, Joel Lautier, Miguel Illescas, Alexei Shirov, Peter Leko and, most notably, BGN World Champion Vladimir Kramnik. This book equips Black to fight against all these lines. The Anti-Sicilian systems include: positionally motivated lines such as the 2 c3 Sicilian and the 3 Bb5 systems; slow but tricky attacking lines including the Closed Sicilian and the King's Indian Attack; aggressive but loosening ideas like the Grand Prix Attack and a variety of gambits. In the most critical variations, Rogozenko provides a choice between a solid and an aggressive option. He caters for those who meet 2 Nf3 with the three main moves, 2...d6, 2...e6 and 2...Nc6. The reason is easy to understand: from the very first move Black unbalances the position and can play for a win without needing to take unjustified risks. This is particularly the case with the Open Sicilians, where Black can take comfort in the fact that his superior pawn structure ensures control of the centre and excellent long term chances. Faced this with type of problem, along with the fact that many Open Sicilians carry with them a massive build-up of opening theory, it’s unsurprising that many White players prefer to avoid the Open Sicilian altogether, preferring one of the many ‘Anti-Sicilians’ lines on offer.

Van Der Tak and Friso Nijboer (Sep 2003) http://rapidshare.com/files/166461907/A._C._van_der_Tak___Friso_Nijboer_-_Tactics_in_the_Chess_Opening__Vol._1_-_Sicilian_Defence.djvu Product Description Tactics, tricks and traps! Every chess player loves to win, but nothing compares to winning with a flourish. How happy we are when the tactics work and we decide a game with a cunning trick, a devilish trap or a delightful coup de grâce. The Sicilian is one of the sharpest and most popular chess openings and offers endless possibilities for players looking for fireworks. It’s not for nothing that among the most loyal fans of the Sicilian we find tactical geniuses like Garry Kasparov, Bobby Fischer and Judit Polgar! In this book you will find more than 250 carefully selected and expertly annotated Sicilian games full of unexpected turns and brilliant surprise attacks. You can study these games or just enjoy them, but either way they will end up making you a stronger player! A.C. van der Tak is widely respected as an authority on opening theory. For the past three decades he has been a highly productive contributor to New In Chess and its predecessor Schaakbulletin. Friso Nijboer is one of Holland’s most active and most experienced grandmasters. He has played in countless national championships and was one of the topscorers of the Dutch team that won the European Championship in 2001.

Renegat23: The Pirc in Black and White: Detailed Coverage of an Enterprising Chess Opening by James Vigus (Mar 1, 2007) http://ifolder.ru/9278437 Review THE PIRC IN BLACK and WHITE is, without any doubt, the best book on the Pirc ever written. It's up to date, filled with original analysis by the author, offers interesting move orders that avoid some problem lines, and gives a very useful summary at the end of every chapter. I said it earlier and I'll say it again: this is a MUST BUY if you play the Pirc, or if you open with 1.e4. An outstanding piece of work! Jeremy Silman Product Description The Pirc is an ambitious counter-attacking response to White’s most popular opening move, 1 e4. James Vigus provides an up-to-date appraisal of the Pirc and its many variations. Using illustrative games, he examines the traditional main lines, the fashionable alternatives and the tricky sidelines, while outlining the typical tactical and positional ideas for both White and Black. A study of this book will allow the reader to begin playing the Pirc with confidence in his or her own games. *Essential coverage of a dynamic opening *Written by a Pirc expert *Ideal for club and tournament players

Play 1..b6: A Dynamic and Hypermodern Opening System for Black by Christian Bauer (Oct 1, 2005) http://rapidshare.com/files/175217817/Christian_Bauer_Play_1...b6_2005_.pdf 6 MB http://ww.mediafire.com/download.php?ivsm0zq1dqw 15 MB Product Description Fed up with getting difficult positions with the black pieces? Tired of always having to keep up with all the latest developments. Take a break from the mountains of opening theory and play 1...b6! With the move, preparing a bishop fianchetto, Black immediately directs the game into relatively uncharted territory, one where White players are not able to sit back and rely on their 'opening book' knowledge. The real beauty of 1...b6 is that it can be played against virtually every single first move by White, so it is a perfect choice for Black players with neither the time nor inclination to memorise a multitude of different defences. Despite being relatively unexplored, 1...b6 has been the weapon of some dynamic and uncompromising world-class players, including Britain's first Grandmaster, the late Tony Miles. In this revolutionary book, Christian Bauer reveals for the first time the secrets of how to play 1...b6 with success. He takes an in-depth look at both the main lines and White's more offbeat tries, creating a comprehensive repertoire for the Black player and highlighting the tactical and positional ideas for both players. It is written by a 1...b6 expert. All of White's possibilities are covered. It includes full explanation of the most important thematic ideas. Winston: Understanding the Grunfeld by Jonathan Rowson (Nov 1, 1998) http://rapidshare.com/files/12678050/Jonathan_Rowson_-_Understanding_the_Grunfeld.rar Product Description The Grunfeld Defense has always been a popular choice with players who aim to counterattack with the black pieces. World Champions Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov head a distinguished cast of grandmasters who swear by its solid yet dynamic nature. In this original book Jonathan Rowson delves deeply into the Grunfeld, steering the reader through the mysteries and intricacies of this complex opening. Now you too will be able to understand, play and win the Grunfeld! How to Play the Sicilian Defence by D.N.L. Levy, Kevin J. O'Connell (September 24, 1987) http://rapidshare.com/files/109202400/How_to_play_the_Sicilian_Defence.rar Customer Review This book by Levy and O'Connell is a wonderful primer on the Sicilian defence, that is instructive as well as entertaining. The authors mention Fine's Ideas Behind the Chess Openings in the intro., and it is apparent that they tried to write the book they thought Fine would write, if he were to focus just on the Sicilian. There is a great deal about pawn structures. The book is similar to the "Mastering the ..." opening series, such as the Bellin and Ponzetto books. An excellent, high quality work. I would recommend getting the hardback copy. The Ultimate King's Indian Attack by Angus Dunnington (Jul 3, 1998) http://rapidshare.com/files/114107992/The_Ultimate_King_s_Indian_Attack.rar Customer Review This is one of my favorite opening books. The author does an excellent job of explaining key concepts in words - much preferable to the forest of cryptic variations found in so many books. (I am a USCF 2000 player.) Play the King's Indian: A Complete Repertoire for Black in this most Dynamic of Openings by Joe Gallagher (Nov 1, 2004) http://rs44.rapidshare.com/files/20950221/Play_The_King_s_Indian_by_GM_Joe_Gallagher.PDF Product Description The King's Indian has always been one of the sharpest, most complex, and popular openings that Black can play; it still provides the setting for many encounters at the elite level of Grandmaster chess. Straight from the start, Black fights for the initiative and in many variations, while White pursues material gains, it is Black who has the psychological advantage of trying checkmate the opponent's king. Despite its many advantages, some prospective King's Indian players are put off by the seemingly endless amount of theory one is supposed to learn. In Play the King's Indian, however, Grandmaster and life-long King's Indian devotee Joe Gallagher has produced a comprehensive and yet workable Black repertoire against all of White's most dangerous possibilities. Using more than 300 diagrams, an international Grandmaster and regular writer for CHESS magazine analyzes specific main lines and variations to combat Black's possible choices of the King's, Queen's, and Bogoljubow-Indian defenses, as well as the Modern Benoni and Benko Gambit. There are also promising methods against the various Black defenses to the Queen's gambit, and commentary on the Dutch and Gruenfeld defenses. An excellent and practical opening guide.
